They received the prize for their publication „Tumorspezifische, Hypoxie-basierte Aktivierung von EGFR-Inhibitoren/Tumor-Targeting of EGFR Inhibitors by Hypoxia-Mediated Activation“ in the journal „Angewandte Chemie“, developing a new stragey for the reduction of the often grave side effects of an important class of modern of cancer therapeuthics (tyrosine kinase inhibitors).
